About FastImpose

Imposition is the step between a finished design and a printed sheet, and it is where jobs quietly go wrong. Not dramatically — the file opens, the preview looks right, the press runs. The problem shows up at the guillotine, or at the folder, when a stack reads out of order or a mark turns out to sit inside the bleed.

FastImpose exists to make that step dull. It is a native desktop application for macOS and Windows: you open a PDF, choose a mode, set the sheet, and export a PDF the press can run. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is queued, and no account is required.

What it deliberately does not do

There is a version of this product that ticks every box on a prepress feature list. This is not it, and the gaps are worth stating on the page rather than leaving to be discovered.

• It does not convert colour. Whatever the source PDF was built in is what gets written out. An imposer that silently converts colour is an imposer that can make a proof stop matching the press.
• It draws crop marks only. No registration marks, fold marks, collation marks or colour bars.
• It does not preflight. It will impose a file that a RIP later refuses. Checking the file is a separate job, done by tools that are good at it.

The roadmap lists which of these are being considered. None of them carry dates.

How it is built

The imposition engine is written in Rust and runs as a native desktop application rather than in a browser. That choice is mostly about where your files go: a local application has no upload step to worry about, no queue to wait in, and no server that could be holding a client's unreleased artwork.

Source pages are carried through as vector form objects rather than re-rendered, so type and artwork arrive on the sheet exactly as they were authored. Nothing is rasterised.

How it is sold

A perpetual licence, bought once. Both tiers keep working indefinitely — there is nothing to renew, nothing to cancel, and no check-in that can fail and lock you out of your own tool. Pricing is here.
