What is built, and what is not

Nothing here carries a date. A dated roadmap reads as a set of promises, and the items under consideration are not promises — they are the honest list of what FastImpose does not do yet.

Considering

  • Creep compensation for saddle-stitched work

    Considering

    Booklet mode reorders pages into folding sequence but does not shift inner pages toward the spine to allow for push-out. Doing it properly means working from stock caliper rather than grammage, since two sheets at the same weight can bulk differently.

  • Registration marks and colour bars

    Considering

    FastImpose draws crop marks only. Registration marks and a colour bar would need to be written in a registration colour that separates onto every plate.

  • Named work styles

    Considering

    Work-and-turn and work-and-tumble as explicit choices, rather than the single back-flip toggle that covers the common case today.

  • Colour management

    Considering

    Not planned in the near term, and arguably not wanted: an imposer that converts colour is an imposer that can make a proof stop matching the press. Colour is currently carried through untouched, which is the safer default.

  • Four imposition modes

    N-Up, Step and Repeat, Cut & Stack and Booklet, with automatic placement for the grid modes.

  • Crop marks, slug line and sheet numbering

    Shipped

    Marks drawn from the sheet transform, a slug outside the trim, and automatic numbering for stack checking.

  • Duplex with a 180° back-flip

    Shipped

    Two-sided output with a single flip toggle covering the common short-edge case.
